Rockstar Mixologist Taking The Reigns At TSK’s New Newport Spot

Thames Street Kitchen’s new digs is going to have some amazing craft cocktails with this guy running the show…though given the location’s history, that shouldn’t be a surprise.

It’s just been announced that the crew behind Thames Street Kitchen is going to be back in operation. This time, however, they have a full liquor license and needed someone with the considerable bartending knowledge required to provide libations congruent with their amazing culinary output. Given the spot they are operating in has been well known for their craft cocktails since opening in 2014, they needed one of Newport’s top mixologists. They found one. The new General/Bar Manager of TSK At The Revolving Door is Newport’s rockstar craft cocktailor: Corey Hayes.

Corey recently left his position as Bar Manager at Gurney’s Newport, Newport’s newest luxury resort. There he had created a number of craft cocktail menus for the spot’s numerous bars. Now he is bringing his considerable beverage and management experience to a smaller venue, which grants him more freedom from concerns of scale and will allow him to develop some of the most extreme mixed drinks that Newport (and most likely the world) has ever seen.

Corey has announced:

I am very excited to announce that I will be taking on the role of General Manager & Beverage Manager for the amazing and talented owners of Thames Street Kitchen. It has been a dream of mine to work with them for years now, finding a space perfect for us to express ourselves has now become reality.

Corey Hayes was in talks with TSK several year back when they were looking for a new venue after closing the lower Thames location that has since been re-opened as Winner Winner NPT. He was bartending at Fluke at the time, then was hired for his dream shot, beverage manager at Gurney’s. There he acquired considerable restaurant management experience…but began to miss his original passion: cocktails.

Hayes gave as a quick description of the cocktails he’s been working on and the term “mouthwatering” does not begin to do them justice. Unfortunately, just like everyone else, we’ll have to wait a few more weeks before TSK At The Revolving Door opens!

Follow the Thames Street Kitchen Instagram for more updates about their exact opening date.
