This Day In History: The Breakfast Club Served Detention

Some movies are somewhat elusive about their setting dates. It’s that kind of flexibility which works for a few years, assisting in the suspension of disbelief.
For example, The Terminator was set “Tonight”, though very obviously “Tonight: 1984”.
Other movies take a very different tack, spelling out exactly when the story takes place. The Breakfast Club is one of those movies.
Meanwhile, the day Ferris Bueller took off took a bit more digging to come up with June 5, 1986 (though it’s sort of a composite day, depending on whether you focus on the baseball game or the parade).
