Frosty Freez 5K Is September 24

It’s time to burn off some of those Frosty Freez calories while raising money for charity!

Last year, Frosty Freez held its inaugural Frosty Freez Family Fun 5K and Kiddie Cone Run and raised over $4000 for charity. Now they’re about to hold the 2nd road race. It will be held on Sunday, September 24 at 8:30 am at Second Beach in Middletown. This will be a great opportunity to burn off those delicious soft-serve calories you might have enjoyed a little too much of this summer.

Here is a picture from the first race:

People were bundled up because it was held in late March. This year they’ve waited until September to hold the event.

Once again, the event will be raising funds for two charities.

This year our two programs we are supporting are our neighbors, Lucy’s Hearth, and once again the Multiple Myeloma Research Fund (MMRF). Lucy’s Hearth is a “24-hour emergency and transitional shelter for mothers and their children who are homeless due to economic hardship, family crisis, divorce, eviction, and severe shortage of safe, affordable housing. The primary goal is to foster independence and help the residents gain the life skills necessary to prevent future chronic homelessness.” Our other donation receiver, the MMRF, is a charity close to my heart. Both my grandmother and her best friend had this incurable (for now) bone marrow/blood cancer, and one of my oldest and dearest friends, Kate Quinn, was diagnosed in December of 2003. Kate’s life-saving bone marrow transplant is a direct result of the wonderful science of research, and the MMRF is one of the #1 rated cancer charities for utilizing their money directly to research. We need to see a cure sooner than later, and we want to help the MMRF reach their goal. We hope you can team with us to help out these 2 programs.
