The 5th Annual Newport Craft Beer Festival will be taking place over two days on the last weekend of April.

The VIB (Very Important Beer) Event will take place at the Newport Storm Brewery on the evening of Friday, April 29. This is a small, intimate event where only 75 tickets were made available (and only 17 tickets remained as of Friday)¬†and all the beers are high-end, limited edition bad boys poured out of bombers that you’ll be able to boast to your craft beer buddies about using Untappd.

Then, on Saturday, April 30, there will be two, more traditional beer festival sessions in the big tent next to the Quaker House. Session 1 runs from 12pm-3pm. Session 2 runs from 4pm-7pm.

Now, “How is this like the Folk Festival?”, you might ask. Well, when tickets for the Folk Festival go on sale, you have no idea who is playing. In fact, the entire weekend’s worth of tickets is almost sold out before the first act is announced.

There are some early confirmations, Newport Storm being the most obvious. Ballast Point, Foolproof, Clown Shoes, Narragansett and Jack’s Abby will be there, pouring some excellent craft brews.Newport-Storm-Logo-Logo-Offset-Printing

The point is, don’t wait to buy your tickets until all the breweries are confirmed because there’s a good chance that they’ll be sold out by then. There’s unlikely to be too much of a shift from last year’s great selection, so have at it.
