On The Ultimate American Road Trip, Where Is The One Place You Stop In RI?

Data scientists discover the perfect route to take around the lower 48 states.

There’s something called the Where’s Waldo algorithm, created by data scientist Randall Olsen to…you guessed it, find Waldo. Alternatively, it can also be used to find the optimal path for a road trip of the Continental United States which includes a stop in all 48 of the lower states, a second stop in California for good measure and one in DC, because it turns out there are just a few important landmarks there.

To drive the 13,699 miles non-stop would take approximately 9.33 days, but that would likely defeat the purpose of the endeavor. To do it properly would be a 2-3 month excursion. Fortunately for those of us in Newport, there’s one location we can check off quite easily…

The Breakers

That’s right, The Breakers was decided as the landmark of choice for Rhode Island.

For Massachusetts, it was the USS Constitution. New Hampshire got the Mount Washington Hotel. For the rest of the list, click here.
