| An event that takes place once every 18.6 years.
It’s a very exciting time for Newport’s most mysterious relic. The Winter Solstice is this Sunday and a half hour after sunrise, the sun will shine straight through two of the tower’s three windows. Newport Tower Museum director Jim Egan expects a small crowd of about 30 people to witness the event.
Then on January 4th, a 4-5 times in a lifetime event occurs, when the full moon will shine through the West and Northeast windows.
