Large amount of smoke seen pouring out of three-story private residence at 560 Aquidneck Ave.

Thanksgiving night has not been a time for local firefighters to relax as they’ve had to fight a serious fire in Middletown. Middletown FD responded to the scene and is receiving mutual aid from both Newport and Jamestown departments.

The fire occurred at 560 Aquidneck Avenue, which is a 6200 square foot, 4-bedroom, 4-bath residence. Here is an overhead shot of the building.

Middletown firefighters have cut holes in the roof to run water lines into the attic. At this time, Jamestown crews are taking over for what are likely some very exhausted Middletown crew. Portsmouth FD is en route to provide station coverage.

UPDATE: The State Fire Marshall has been requested, meaning the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
