What is “Charcuterie” and why is it happening at Newport Storm?

We admit it. We’re uncultured and had to look up “charcuterie” when we got word of this event. We’ll save you the trouble:

Charcuterie is the branch of cooking devoted to prepared meat products, such as bacon, ham, sausage, terrines, galantines, ballotines, pâtés, and confit, primarily from pork. It is part of the garde manger chef’s repertoire. Originally intended as a way to preserve meat before the advent of refrigeration, they are prepared today for their flavors derived from the preservation processes.

On Saturday, August 19th from 6:30-8:30pm, Newport Storm is hosting a night of Charcuterie and beer. They’ve partnered with Newport Wine Cellar & Gourmet to create a unique beer pairing event.
