Delta Just Flew An Airliner Into Hurricane Irma

Some “lucky” passengers got to land at San Juan, Puerto Rico just in time to get hit by Cat 5 Hurricane Irma..

It should be clear that anyone flying to Puerto Rico today had to have an insanely important reason to be there. Unfortunately (or, more likely, fortunately) for most, their flights got turned back. Not so for Delta flight 302. They figured out how to thread the needle, land, taxi, get the Boeing 737 unloaded, refueled, loaded and take off again in 52 minutes. We’re guessing that the passengers on the outbound leg of the trip were much more enthusiastic than the ones heading into a Cat 5 hurricane.

Anyhow, here’s how it went down… (Give the embed a couple seconds to load)

That has to be one of the most thrilling escapes an American airline has done in a long time. We felt the pucker factor while just reading a few tweets.
