Guess Who’s Selling Their 282 Ft Mega Yacht Because They “Need A Bigger Boat”

When a $185 million vessel of luxury just isn’t enough.

There’s a level of financial wealth where everything becomes silly money. You can spend whatever you what, whenever you want, because what the hell, it’s not like you can take it with you when you kick the bucket.

Famed director and Hollywood god Steven Spielberg seems to be doing exactly that now that he’s replacing his boat “The Seven Seas” with a larger vessel he’s, predictably, having custom built. Though, to be fair, it’s not like it’s even an option to buy a luxury yacht of that scale “off the rack”.

We have to wonder if the famed “Jaws” director has grown tired of people describing his current yacht as “almost as long as a football field” because the new one, at 300 feet, will be exactly as long as a football field. It’s also running him a quarter-billion dollars.

Apparently Spielberg decided he wanted a bigger, better vessel after taking the current one on a 30,000 mile cruise back in 2013. It was on that voyage that the 68-year-old learned that he really liked being on the ocean. Prior to that, he admitted, “I’m not really an ocean lover. I’ve always been a little afraid of the ocean.”

Which is a tad ironic considering that his 1975 blockbuster Jaws has made everyone else on the planet “a little afraid of the ocean.”

If you’d like to take a spin in The Seven Seas, it is available for charter for just $800,000 a week. Quite a deal when you realize you get the full services of a crew of 26 and can take 11 of your close friends with you.

Here’s a little video of the boat departing Miami in 2012…

So if you like big boats, need a spot to land your helicopter or you’re just a huge Spielberg fan with $180 mil burning a hole in your pocket, why not put in a bid?
