The Island Moving Company Flash-Mobbed Kazakhstan

Newport’s own ballet company is helping to celebrate 25 years of Kazakh-American relations.

If Newporters have learned anything today, it’s that the Kazakh city Almaty exists…and it has a metro or underground or subway or T or…whatever you call a light rail which travels through tunnels underneath a city. It’s a bit of a different look than one might expect to see when one hears the words “former Soviet republic”.

So there you are, a direct descendant of Genghis Khan, living in a city of 1.3 million people, taking public transport to work when this happens…

What is the Island Moving Company doing in Kazakhstan?

Here’s a primer.

At the invitation of the US Consulate in Almaty, the Island Moving Company is performing across the country to celebrate and promote 25 years of relations between Kazakhstan and the United States.

So that’s fun. We’re wishing the Island Moving Company a safe return.
