What you need to know.

“Don’t wear white after Labor Day.” Well, it’s not Labor Day yet. Fortunately, the season has a few last gasps of serious partying before everyone’s summer leases end September 1 and winter hits the day after Labor Day.

A Newport Event you don’t want to miss.

Before everyone’s social lives commit seppuku as temperature drop below 65º, school starts, bosses come back from vacation, etc., there’s a little party that you’re going to want to hit up this weekend: The Newport White Party.

This little tradition has been going since 2011, growing larger and better every year. Much like a hermit crab, it grows until it exceeds the size of its current residence, at which point it moves on to find a larger venue. It was 100+ when it was a sunset cruise, then 125+ for two years at the Rooftop at the Viking. Now it’s even bigger and going to hosted at Salt Water, the outdoor bar at the Newport Harbor Hotel.

Hosted by Adam Manoli and Newport’s favorite sportscaster, JP Smollins, this event is also a charity fundraiser, with all profits going to charities like the Heather Abbott Foundation and Boston Strong New York Tough, which supports families fighting cancer.
