Authorities withheld the name of the 69-year old victim until family was notified. He has since been identified as Manuel Laureanno.

With the Portsmouth Police Department, the Attorney General’s Office and the State Medical Examiner investigating the incident, a press conference has been scheduled for Tuesday morning.

In a recent study by BackgroundChecks.org, Portsmouth was ranked the #2 safest community in Rhode Island.

In a press release Tuesday morning, Portsmouth police identified that victim and indicated that a stub-nosed revolver and several other firearms had been seized from the scene after a search warrant was obtained.
